Julian is the Lab Manager, and is responsible for a lot of the new direction our accreditations have gone in. Our Far East approvals were as a result of him! Julian heads up the marketing for the company also.
Keen on all sports and having played them all (badly) in his time, he none-the- less is a regular gym-goer and enjoys live music, re-living his youth with the 80’s & 90’s band tours. As a big football fan, he has a season ticket for Southampton at St Marys. Mountain biking is, however, his first hobby and he loves to spend a lot of money online at various bike shops.
Andy Coombes has joined us as Technical Development Manager. He will be our Notified Body, and main technical lead in the commercial EMC lab. He brings a vast experience from previous roles in EMC labs and more recently a detailed technical knowledge of radio testing from his role as technical sales lead for a well-known EMC equipment manufacturer.
Andy is a keen sportsman and enjoys green-laning in his classic Range Rover as well as mountain biking and winter holidays skiing in the Alps.
Andy has been with Hursley EMC from the start and was employee #1. He is in the commercial department and now we have more apprentices, Andy is able to take on some of the management work from Rob and Julian. Andy specialises in multimedia products and FCC testing.
Andy is a keen rambler and has covered much of Hampshire and Dorset in the past few decades! He is a long-standing season ticket holder at Southampton and has supported Saints from the darker days of Div 2.
Dan is the commercial EMC lab manager. Dan joined us as a young lad and works with Andy in the commercial department. Dan is also responsible for the chamber calibrations and looks after all of our in-house software.
Now approaching ‘middle age’, his family keep him busy and he is a keen helper at events his children are involved in. A superb footballer, he still plays 5-a-side and 11-a-side regularly, though we hear less of the goal celebration stories these days!
General EMC Manager and looks over the running of the commercial and military labs. Neil was our first employee in the military department and quickly took over the testing and running from Julian. He now heads this up with two apprentices and keeps all the plates spinning!
A keen runner, he has completed half marathons locally and still plays the odd game of 5-a-side when the team needs some ‘experience’. A born-again biker, he now rides a Suzuki 1200 when the weather is fair.
After being a Hursley EMC customer for several years, Malcolm joined us in April 2018 to add technical admin skills to our reporting and testing processes. He previously spent time with Nokia in Finland setting up their EMC labs and has also worked in the IT, telecoms and multimedia industries.
Malcolm is a keen motorcyclist, with a growing fleet of bikes ranging from classics to modern day tourers. His ideal summer holiday is a motorbike tour through northern Spain.
Dan is one of the apprentices in the military department and has been with us for 3 years now. He is completing an HNC on a day release scheme and has proven himself as a valuable member of the Hursley team.
Dan captains the Hursley 5-a-side team on Monday nights and gets to boss everyone fit enough to play, including Neil. He is keen on pub evenings with friends and has recently taken up golf. We don’t yet expect him to give up his day job for a life on the Pro Tour!
Luke joined shortly after Dan and works in the commercial department. Like Dan, he is also completing his HNC via day release to Southampton College and his ability has allowed Andy more time in the office. Luke is part of the new lighting team with Ryan.
Luke is a keen socialite and is often out and about with friends at pubs and clubs. He is also a keen sports fan, online gamer and cyclist too.
Ryan joined us from a customer in 2016 and is completing his HNC at Fareham College on day release. He works in the commercial section and also looks after the instrumentation and calibration and heads up the lighting section with Luke.
His life outside of Hursley EMC consists of mountain biking, free climbing like Richard, and jumping out of planes and off tall buildings with a parachute. He has completed hundreds of parachute jumps and competes in a free-fall team. The videos are amazing!
Callum has been with us for two years now and has one year left on his HNC course. He has moved from the military EMC dept to the commercial EMC section where has become the lead technician for lighting.
Now at 19, he is a keen clubber and pub go-er with friends. A keep fit fanatic sees him at the gym regularly.
Richard joined us from Ericsson as an experienced EMC tester on the radio side. He has brought these skills and experience to Hursley EMC and allowed us to develop the radio testing side faster. He supports Rob in this department
Richard is a keen climber and tries to get at least one evening a week in dangling by his fingers 40 feet up. He has a collection of old British motorbikes and some faster Japanese ones too. His spare time is spent holidaying in some exciting places. He allegedly plays the guitar, also.
Anna is a vital component in the Hursley EMC business. She is the most organised person and her instinctive understanding of work flow help to keep the company running smoothly. Rob and Julian always dread it when Anna is on holiday.
Anna enjoys shopping and catching up with friends and family. She also shares her husband’s passion for fast cars and motorbikes.
Allan joined us over ten years ago on a 6-month contract and never left. He runs the Hursley Park site pretty much exclusively, working a mix of day and night shifts. An experience engineer with more years in EMC than he’d care to admit!
Allan collects guitars and has a collection to envy. Living in Romsey, he is involved in local charities and helps out with various town events. He is often out and about at the weekends catching up with friends.
Penny is the accounts department, working in our office one day a week, and one day remotely.
When not toiling over our accounts, her young family keeps her busy and she is also a keen DIY-er, with it seems no limit to her skills! Holidays, shopping and time catching up with friends are Penny’s other passions outside of work.
Milan joined us in September 2018 and is training in the commercial section. Milan will be on an HNC day release electronics course for two years.
When not at work Milan has a busy social life and enjoys gaming and watching and playing sport.
Michelle joined us in January 2019 as a Business Administration apprentice. As part of her apprenticeship, Michelle is studying for a Level 3 Diploma on a day release programme at Andover College. As Eurofins Hursley has expanded, we have significantly increased our engineering headcount and Michelle will be bringing in new skills from her course to help the admin team.
When not in the office, Michelle is an accomplished horse rider and spends time out hacking on her pony. Outdoor walks and socialising with friends are high on the agenda, too!
We look forward to Michelle settling in with the team here at Eurofins Hursley.
